Cherish Free Advice
I have come to learn that the best advice in life is
- Free (or easily obtained)
- Short, Clear and Logical
- Easier said than done
In life there are no shortcuts. There are no get rich quick schemes.
There are no secrets.
If you are being told or sold "a secret", ask yourself:
- Are they promising something incredible for almost no work and a "low price"?'
- What's in it for them?
- Are they always asking for more money before you get to the "real" secret?
- Does the solution make sense, or are they telling you to invest in a "black box" that will somehow magically solve your problems?
I'm not saying that there isn't necessarily value to be found by paying for information; I very much encourage you to attend seminars, read books, and take courses.
BUT
The takeaways should be obvious. The promised rewards should be small steps.
To get better at writing, you should write more. Yeah, easier said than done! Anyone could have told you that. Anyone can do that.
That's the point.
Anyone can do it, but almost nobody actually does. They spend their energy looking for the shortcuts or procrastinating because they don't want to do the hard work.
If you're willing put in the hard work, that will become your secret weapon. Work long enough and hard enough, and you will start winning.
Then, suddenly, everyone will start asking you "how you did it".
And you can tell them, but most won't believe you.
